Apart from the evening and mid meal snacks, kids needs something to munch. And this becomes a challenge, especially when we are on the go. Whether we are out for quick grocery run or long travel, snacks are the best way to keep them engaged and full for a while.

Have you ever felt overwhelmed and perplexed thinking about mid-meal snack options for your kids while travelling?

Here are my list to go snacks, which are healthy & nutritious.

  • Yogurt

Flavored yogurt are kids all time favorite and rich in protein. I carry 1-2 small packs in my diaper bag always.

  • Bananas

Though any fruits serves best as snack for kids, I prefer banana most of the time, because it saves the hassle of washing. It is easy to serve and safe for kids to eat without washing.

  • Boiled eggs

Hard boiled and unpeeled eggs comes for rescue, if we go for long day trip or for some picnic and outings. You can easily peel and serve. It is good enough to keep kids full for a while.

  • Dry & flavored raisins

These are kids’ all time favorite snack. And it is easy to deviate them from chocolates and candies. Few mini boxes are always handy to toss in the bag. Also, there are wide range of flavors to choose from.

  • Dried Apricots

Loaded with calcium and magnesium, these dried apricots are my daughter’s favorite snack. These are so delicious, enriching and fibrous snack not only for kids but for all.

  • Popcorn

This snack does not need any introduction. I think this is all time snack for both kids & adults.

  • Digestive biscuits

I prefer to give my kids some digestive biscuits instead of cookies. Cookies are definately treats for them but for regular snack, digestive biscuits or indian biscuits like Parle G serves the best.

  • Veggie Sticks

Colorful veggie sticks / straws are very attractive and easy alternative for chips.

  • String Cheese

Cheese, serves the most healthy & proteinaceous snack for kids. It is handy and a tasty delight. I personally prefer colby jack for kids, because these cheese donot have sharp taste unlike cheddar cheese. Colby jack cheese have very neutral and milky flavor.

I also toss one cheese packet in my kids’ lunch box often.

  • Fox nuts

This snack is my personal favorite due to my childood nostalgia. You just need to roast them in a teaspoon of ghee or butter and add little salt to them. Foxnuts are loaded with nutrients and most hot among kids just like popcorn.

  • Cereals

I ensure to carry some of my kids’ favorite cereals in zip locks. They just love to munch on these dry cereals.

  • Gold fish / Animal Crackers

Gold fish crackers and animal crackers are another type of bite size crackers most hit among kids. Gold fish are salty in taste and are cheese flavored, while animal crakers are mildly sweet. Both are also part of ny kids’ school snacks sometimes.

  • Juices

While mostly I prefer fresh cut fruits, juices are best for kids on the go. Many good and organic juices are available in the market. I prefer small tetra packs with straws. It keeps them full and tidy at the same time.

  • Milk tetrapacks

Again, I prefer tetra packs of milk with straws while travelling. It is a wholesome meal in itself.

Notes ?

  • Most of the products I have mentioned can sustain at room temperature for short term. But, I ensure to carry few products such as milk & milk products and juices in a portable cooler bags, on a very hot and humid days.
  • Please do not forget straws for juices and milks.
  • Please ensure to check milk allergy for your kids, before serving milk & milk products.

Do let me know your what are your kids’ snack list!!! ??
