Banana as a fruit is widely consumed globally. But, Do you know that every component of banana is edible and are loaded with nutrients? Yes, you read correct, apart from raw banana used as veggie and ripe banana as fruit, all other parts like stem, leaf, flower and banana peel are consumed and are beneficial.

Today I have come up with raw banana peel chutney recipe.

This chutney is tangy, healthy and delicious side dish to be eaten with any main course or can be used as dip for any appetizer. And also it can be used as a spread in a variety of sandwiches. It is very simple and super easy to make. This can be a cheaper and tastier substitute of guacamole.

Ingredients:

  1. Raw Banana peel (from 2 bananas)
  2. Garlic cloves 2-4
  3. Ginger (1 inch)
  4. Green Chillies (as per your requirement)
  5. Salt (as needed)
  6. Lemon juice (1 tbsp)
  7. Mustard oil (1tsp) optional

Method:

I boiled the raw bananas and took out the pulp for kofta. And kept the peels aside. If you haven’t boiled raw bananas, peel it and keep the peels aside.

  1. Boil the peels of raw banana in water for 10-15 mins.
  2. Now, keep the boiled banana peels aside and let it cool.
  3. Once cooled down, add the boiled banana peel, green chillies, garlic cloves, and ginger in a blender and blend the mixture.
  4. Add just 1 -2 tsp of water if the chutney is too thick.
  5. Then add salt, lemon juice to the mixture6. At the end, add 1 tsp of mustard oil for ab additional zing to it. This step can be skipped if you do not like mustard oil.

And now raw banana peel chutney is ready to serve as a side dish.
